This best sbook extends a compelling invitation to leaders, inspiring them to ascend to new heights of personal growth and to catalyze transformative change within themselves and their organizations.
Majestic mountains, illustrating how each ascent served as a catalyst for significant personal and professional growth.
I have had the great pleasure of meeting many people from many walks of life. In my journey, I have met but a few who I find myself deeply challenged by the simplest of exchanges with. In fact, the number is two – one is my lifelong marital and life coach, and the other is Scott.I was fortunate to cross paths with Scott through a common employer and was at once taken by his direct approach to prob-lem-solving and his passion for sourcing, shall I say, interestingly weird people and journeys. His energy, grace, and purpose are captivating, even in the most mundane moments.Unreasonable is an extraordinary account of his all-but-mundane journey to find existential meaning and purpose in climbing some of the most challenging and majestic mountains in the world. As each page turns, I am met with less emphasis on the actual climb, although wildly interesting, and introduced to the complex nuances of the interpersonal relationships it took to plan and execute each climb. The cultural and language barriers they overcome, the team relationships forged, and the physical, and often spiritual, sacrifices are honestly captured by Scott and become ubiquitous lessons applicable to the most abstruse cir-cumstances.You will be drawn to the rawness and grandeur of the adventure. You will also see method and order conflict and contrast with the messiness of the third world described in artful and conspicuous prose—a provocative bivouac to lands and altitudes foreign to most and deadly to others. As Scott returned from each climb, we would debrief over a cup of coffee, often for hours, and I could sense that I was witness to a transformation of spirit, soul, and mind. It was so powerful that it made me a bit uneasy. That uneasiness manifested in me, challenging my own sense of adven-ture and purpose, as I hope you do. How and where you show up matters, and Unreasonable will challenge that understanding.
